Every company that wastes food or has to ship out of date food to be processed should have a Anaerobic Digester. Anaerobic digestion is the natural process of organic materials turning into methane and carbon dioxide gas and fertiliser during breakdown.

This process takes place naturally all around us in the form of rotting food, grass and in general any organic matter, or in a controlled manner in an anaerobic digester.

Anaerobic digesters are usually a sealed container,  where bacteria act without oxygen.  The food waste and organic material contents should be mixed well and warmed, usually to internal body temperature.

  • Biogas is produced during the use of a anaerobic digester which is a mix of organic waste gases.
  • Biogas is made up of methane (c70%) and carbon dioxide (c30%).

When extracted from the container and removing the carbon dioxide  we are left with Renewable Natural Gas or Biomethane.

If  Biomethane is used in a vehicle as fuel, it is without a doubt, the world’s cleanest and most environmentally friendly fuel widely available now.
